Why This Is Urgent
The compliance clock is ticking — and most brands aren't ready.
Your packaging data is scattered
Spec sheets in email threads, weights in spreadsheets, material types guessed from memory. Nobody has a single source of truth.
Suppliers aren't responding
You've sent three follow-up emails. Still waiting on material weights, PCR%, and component-level specs. The deadline is not waiting.
Deadlines are weeks away
6 states have May 31 deadlines. CA source reduction plans due Aug 1. Fines run up to $25,000 per day for non-compliance.

Who It's For
Built for the people who actually have to file.
Brand Ops Lead
You just found out about EPR three weeks ago. You don't have a sustainability team. You need to figure out what you owe, collect the data, and file — without a six-month consulting engagement.
Compliance Consultant
You manage EPR for 10+ brand clients. You need tooling that scales, not another client-specific spreadsheet. Branded supplier portals and multi-client workspaces are non-negotiable.
Supply Chain Manager
You need packaging specs from 30 suppliers by next month. Chasing them down over email isn't a process. You need a way to send requests, track responses, and validate what comes back.
FAQ
Common questions.
What is packaging EPR?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a policy approach that makes brand owners financially responsible for the end-of-life management of their packaging. Brands pay fees based on the weight and material type of packaging they put into commerce in regulated states.
Which states require EPR reporting?
California (SB 54), Oregon, and Colorado have active programs with reporting requirements now in effect. Minnesota, Maryland, and Washington are implementing their programs. Maine has a planning-stage program. More states are expected to adopt legislation in 2026–2027.
What data do I need to report?
Typically: the weight of each packaging component (primary, secondary, tertiary), material type (PET, HDPE, cardboard, etc.), post-consumer recycled content percentage, and sales volume into each state. PackBOM helps you collect all of this from your suppliers and validates it against CAA requirements.
Do I need a sustainability team to use PackBOM?
No. PackBOM is designed for brand ops, supply chain, and compliance teams with no prior sustainability expertise. The platform guides you through what data to collect and why, and flags gaps before you file.
Can my consultant use PackBOM?
Yes. Our Agency plan is purpose-built for consultants managing EPR across multiple brand clients. You get multi-client workspaces, a branded supplier portal, and reporting tools that scale across your book of business.
Is PackBOM affiliated with the Circular Action Alliance (CAA)?
No. PackBOM is independent software. We format exports to be compatible with CAA reporting specifications, but we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a certified partner of the CAA or any producer responsibility organization (PRO).
